Born
and brought up in Bhavnagar, Gujarat, H P Shah set out to
conquer the world of insurance at the age of 18. Armed with
a Bachelor of Commerce degree, a unique quality of foresight
and determination, it was a chance visit to the Life Insurance
Corporation office where the challenges of the insurance world
beckoned him.
The satisfaction he would gain on assuring a lifetime of financial
security for individuals coupled with attractive returns on
their investments struck an emotional chord within him. And
H P Shah, a strong-willed and confident individual, resolved
to make it big in the challenging field of insurance selling.
Since then there was no looking back.
He set up his first office Shah Investment
Consultants (now Value Plus Investment Advisors Private Ltd)
and within a period of nine months in pursuit of success,
his hard work and dedicated efforts paid off. He achieved
a never-before feat. He was crowned the 'First Crorepati agent
of the Rajkot Division achieving business of Rs.1.07 Crores
till December' 87 and again Rs.1.15 Crores from Jan '88 to
March' 88. This was the first time in Saurashtra in the history
of LIC. That was just the beginning.
Achievements
Circa 2000 he gave a record-breaking performance
garnering sum assured of Rs. 8.40 Crores and first premium
income of Rs. 23 lakhs from a single family. And in the same
year achieved business of Rs. 13.62 Crores and premium income
of Rs. 69.59 lakhs. Since then his list of accomplishments
only began to grow longer and so did his list of clients.
He successfully garnered Rs. 13.13 crores of insurance business
and a premium income of Rs. 85.77 lakhs in the year 2001-2002
standing first in Vadodara Division becoming the 'Star Agent'
-adding another feather in his cap. And for his outstanding
performance he received the 'Award of Excellence' from the
LIC in the year 2001. Further he was COT in 2001-2002 and
was accorded the status of - the Top Most Agent of the Vadodara
Division winning laurels for his second consecutive performance
- a repeat success by hitting a first again in Vadodara division
for maximum business in the year 2002.
Soon, from insurance selling Shah also
diversified to offer professional advise on other investment
avenues such as mutual funds, government securities, bonds
and several other financial services, donning the role of
a financial consultant. And he excelled there too. He received
the rare honour of "HIGH PERFORMING" agent from
the Unit Trust of India under three agencies.
Besides he also decided to double up as
Chief Agent for LIC Mutual Funds. Thanks to his regular interaction
with clients through timely reminders and with unparalleled
customer service his clients were a happier lot.
H P Shah qualified four times in a row
from 1998 to 2002 for Million Dollar Round Table (MDRT), a
premier association of the world's top sales professionals
in the life insurance business.
In the financial year 2002-2003 he did a business of Rs. 23
crores sum assured from the Vadodara office alone and achieved
19th position in the central and 11th position in the western
region. This year he ranks 12th in the central region for
premium collection and 5th in the western region. His premium
collection figures for this fiscal are Rs. 2 crores and he
will be qualifying for TOT in the next month.
His life partner Mrs. Jagruti H. Shah having
excellent academic career by securing a first class throughout
in her graduation from SNDT University did not want to lag
behind in business career too!
She joined Mr. HP Shah and was successful
in achieving MDRT in the year 2002. Not the one to rest on
his laurels he soon set up offices at Vadodara, Jamnagar,
Surat and Mumbai at prime locations with highly qualified
staff and the latest technologies to further spread his wings
wider. His professional attitude, prompt customer service
and perseverance helped him build a good reputation for himself
over the years leading to a steady growth in clientele and
an astounding increase in business. Consequently he achieved
the coveted 'Court of the Table' and 'Top of the Table' status
in Vadodara district and now he is all set to achieve the
'Top of The Table' honour at all offices of LIC.
Today Shah has reached towering levels
of success that few may have even dreamt of. His clientele
include multi-national companies/ individuals, IPS officers,
Professionals - Chartered Accountants, Company Secretaries,
bankers, Doctors, Advocates, Businessmen, NRIs among others.
With business already booming HP Shah is now all set to shift
office to a lavish and sprawling area of 2000 sq feet in Vadodara
itself in a few days time.
Having come a long way, he strongly believes
that its regular interaction with his clients, assessing their
financial requirements aptly and providing them with the right
financial solution that has helped him reach the pinnacle
of success and looks forward to continuing with outstanding
performance in the years to come.
